Hi there, I’m Rachel, and I’m a storyteller.
My own plot is a winding one, from a career as a litigator, to freelance journalism and publishing a novel, to editorial, PR, and finally brand-building. Through it all, I’ve learned that people respond to stories. And that the best ones tap into a universal truth.
As part of the very first team at Rue La La, I developed the voice of this leading ecomm brand across every channel, from site to social to video and beyond, creating a joyful sensibility that recognized our consumer as a real person with ups, downs, and reasons to indulge, drawing her to return day after day.
Since then, I founded Honor Code Creative and have led creative, branding and marketing initiatives for a diverse range of innovative brands, often with complicated stories to tell, including Follain (at the forefront of clean beauty) and M.Gemi (luxury Italian shoes, one of the first direct-to-consumer brands). The happy ending? Engagement and evangelism, of course.
Outside of work, I volunteer my time for organizations that advance the educational opportunities and writing skills of kids from low income backgrounds. I like watching Blackish with my hubbie, teenage son, and rescue cats, all things fashion (from consignment shopping to Project Runway); and a book with an endless cup of coffee.
